Fast Track Your Shamanic Education
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am dead set against people simply going to a weekend seminar, and then being called a shaman. I am also against having any series of initiations without the preparation that traditionally goes on, and then telling people they have a new "Light Body", and they can do what the people who had all of the preparation can do without having had to do the preparatory work. There are a couple of bogus shamanic training schools who advocate such spurious activities as the "weekend to become a Shaman" bit, which is just about as unethical, but that is not what is being addressed here. I will be adding a section on ethics in Shamanism soon which will cover this in greater detail.
In The Asaga Medicine Society of the Cherokee Tribe I am what is known as an Adawehi. It took a total of twenty five years of formal apprenticeship to complete the process, and another eleven years before I was willing to do my final vision quest and assume my full responsibilities. Simply put, an Adawehi is a combination of what people know as a spiritual leader, medicine man or woman, cultural lineage keeper, Earth-keeper, psychic warrior and shaman all rolled into one. About fifty percent of the training is concerning Cherokee tradition and spirituality, and the other fifty percent covers everything else.
If we accept the fact that all traditions are dying, and I do accept that, then fifty percent of what I learned in my life is no longer a viable part of shamanic training. Add to that the fact that even our most secret oral traditions are being written down rather than being lost, and we are faced with the fact that the core teachings are now much more available to anyone desiring to learn them than they were before. Add to that the fact that accelerated learning technologies are available to speed up the process even further, and then you can see why I believe that a good shamanic education can be had in three to seven years.
One thing that is absolutely vital is that the student have a physically living, human-form teacher who can guide him or her through the processes involved, and help them learn their way around the spirit world safely. For that reason, I will be adding a list at the end of this article with the names and contact information of people other than just myself whom I believe are qualified to guide you through this process as not every student of Shamanism is suited to work with me, but there is someone out there who is right for you. This list will be updated regularly.
People who do decide to work with me will go through every course offered in the Products section of this website, and will receive weekly instruction just as my current students and apprentices do (either by phone, e-mail or in person) as well as six one week long training sessions (two weeks per year maximum) which will include one four day vision quest per year in different climates and at different seasons of the year. And, they will take a variety of the programs offered at http://www.deeptrancenow.com?a_aid=0b680468which are found by clicking on "Products" and then scrolling down to the sections entitled "Spiritual Alchemy" and "Esoteric Hypnosis". We will pray about what you should take, and the Spirits will guide us. Considering the season in which we are in, the programs on this website would make excellent holiday gifts as well as presents for birthdays.
I also encourage my students to take as much training from other sources as possible with this advice from my Grandmother as a guide: "Consider all of your physical heritage, and learn as much of the ancient spiritual beliefs and practices as you can. Add to this the spiritual training that most interests you, and out of this synthesis will come what will be your own Medicine. It is well enough to do Cherokee Medicine, but that is not all that you are."
Those who desire to work with me may contact me through this website, and those who would prefer someone else will have the list as given below. Each of these Teachers will have different requirements than mine, and will do things at their own pace. So, shop around and find the best deal for you. Trust the Spirits to guide you and they will.
